Jennifer Murray, a familiar face at the Santa Cruz Triathlon, became Race Director in 2014.
Jennifer is an avid athlete who has been involved in the race since 2009. She worked her way up from volunteer to board member. In 2013, became Assistant Race Director where she worked side-by-side with outgoing Race Director Rich Larson throughout the planning process and on Race Day (she was the one on the mic starting each swim wave). Her experience in race management back, however, goes way back. She grew up helping her family organize and host Junior Olympics track and field meets in “Track Town, USA,” Eugene, Oregon.
She is proud of the deep ties to the community and youth athletics the Santa Cruz Triathlon maintains, and is excited to continue the race’s tradition of providing both volunteer opportunities and financial contributions to high school sports programs.
Jennifer is a USA Triathlon-certified Race Director. She also has experienced the Santa Cruz Triathlon from a competitor’s perspective; she has completed the race five times, individually and on relays.
Outside of triathlon, Jennifer is a writer and editor. She lives in Seacliff with her husband, Mike, their two dogs and six bikes.
